Employee Encounters
Brentwood Community Hospital
Some of our Post 16 students visited Brentwood Community Hospital to find out about all the different jobs and careers available within the NHS. They found out that lots of jobs do not involve medical knowledge or require lots of qualifications or university degrees, for example ICT technicians, catering, laundry, administration and so many more. The students learnt that without all the support staff behind the scenes a hospital cannot function.
The wonderful teaching staff then explained in greater detail the role of a Health Care Assistant within the NHS. Each student was given the opportunity to try the following skills:
CPR, Making a bed with Hospital Corners, Contolling a hospital bed, Checking a patients temperature, Checking a patient's blood pressure, recovery position
Wylies Visit
Some of the students in Upper School had the opportunity to visit Wylies Wellness Centre in Brentwood.
They had a tour of the practice and then met the veterinary nurse, Chloe, who shared her journey of becoming a nurse. The students then got to meet the cynophobic dogs, they were able to listen to their heart beats and find out about the excellent work these dogs do
